The Harlan Office recently participated in the Our Wish Toy Drive, a division of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.Ìý The group purchased every item on the Wish List plus many more.Ìý ÌýÌýAs we all know, sick children are in the hospitals every day.

This division was created by a 9-year-old patient with an extremely rare form of cancer, Laura Jones.Ìý The doctors at Vanderbilt Children’s only gave Laura a 2% chance of survival.Ìý Fast forward six years, now Laura is 15 years old and has been in remission for a few years.Ìý Laura’s passion was to do something helpful therefore Our Wish was born.Ìý Laura, her family, friends and many volunteers tirelessly gather toys at various churches and businesses all year long, striving to gather toys every month, if not weekly.

In the past six years, over 18,000 toys have been collected and distributed.Ìý ÌýAll toys go directly to children at Centennial and Vanderbilt Children Hospitals in the Cancer areas.Ìý Some children are orphans or foster children with very few possessions, several with only the clothes they come in wearing. These toys may be the only ones they receive for Christmas or throughout the year.

Our plans are to have a second toy drive during the summer of 2024, extending participation to the field personnel.

Among the highlights of the evening was the stellar performance by “Whiskey Neat,” a band led by JE Richards Project Manager, Brian Frew. Frew, who has been actively participating in this event for several years, showcased his musical talents, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere and making the night truly memorable.

The Filmore, known for its iconic venue, provided the perfect backdrop for the event, offering a space where industry members and supporters alike could come together in the spirit of giving. Attendees were treated to an incredible show by Whiskey Neat, whose performance resonated with the audience, creating an electric atmosphere.

The event not only featured the musical prowess of Brian Frew and Whiskey Neat but also saw the active participation of various employees from different companies. Among those captured in the event’s photos were fans – Kendel Bruce, Veronica Brown, and Ian Beard.

This annual D.A.D.’s Day campaign organized by North America’s Building Trades Unions, with the help of State and Local Councils around the country, has been able to donate over $57 million dollars to the Diabetes Research Institute, in Miami, Florida.

Congrats on the great efforts to combat this insidious disease that inflicts so many lives!
